If you enjoyed Black Butler and are looking for a new series I heavily suggest Moriarty the Patriot, likewise for Moriarty fans! read moreīoth of them are (somewhat) darker, have a supernatural kinda deal going on, a non-human character who hangs around the main character and isn't quite good or evil, some mystery/detective themes, shinigami, clever and well-respected main characters, and blonde-haired girlfriends who just want to make the main character happy.

Both characters even have a team to help them complete their goals.

Ciel's revenge is more self-centered as he wishes to kill whoever murdered his parents, while Moriarty wants to make England a better place for non-nobles by killing those who cause suffering to the lower-classes in society. They both have revenge on their minds throughout the series. Ciel and Moriarty are definitely not opposed to killing if they deem it necessary. Time Period - They both take place in Victorian England and even show their own interpretations on the same historical events (those events being the Jack the Ripper killings and The Great Fire of London).Ĭharacters - Both main characters are nobles who have, what some may call, morality issues. Genre - I would describe Black Butler and Moriarty the Patriot to be dark mysteries centering around crime (typically murder) with some dashes of comedy occasionally. read moreĪs a lover of dark mystery anime I find Black Butler (Kuroshitsuji) and Moriarty the Patriot (Yuukoku no Moriarty) to be both incredibly intriguing and very similar. (which in Kuroshitsuji happens with the second season.) Hope you enjoy them. Lastly both have huge climaxes that make you want to scream for more story and of the charaters in each. As you watch, like I said before, you will become captivated by what is going on even if its watching blood spill, but at the same time you will gain a kind of love for all the characters in them. While in Gosick the helper is a human he is called The black Reaper which almost shares a tie into Kuroshitsuji where Sabastion is not a Grimm Reaper but a deamon. While Gosick has more Romance in it Both are types of anime that will scare you almost half to death but keep you captivated while you are watching blood spill, even if your not the type to like such things. Gosick and Kuroshitsuji both are set around the same time period and have that same kind of vibe of something forever dark but somehow funny at the same time. They also both have main characters who have a helper, in Gosick its a sidekick while in Kuroshitsuji is a butler. Both Gosick and Kuroshitsuji have main characters who help some kind of higher order solve 'unsolvable' mysteries.
